Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL)

Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) is a national research, development and marketing organization that works in partnership with the horticulture sector to invest in programs that provide benefit to the Australian horticultural industry. Horticulture for Tomorrow is a national environmental program for the horticulture industry that is funded by the Australian Government, through the Natural Heritage Trust’s Pathways to Industry EMS and managed by HAL on behalf of industry. Since June 2004 Porter Novelli Adelaide and Sydney have worked with HAL on the Horticulture for Tomorrow program, which focuses on environmental management issues facing growers and their industries.

Porter Novelli was commissioned as the Communication Team for the entire program, as well as providing strategic advice and direction to HAL and the two (leadership and technical) committees formed as part of the initiative. The ongoing communication program has included:

  • creating a program brand and visual identity;
  • writing, editing and design services for a suit of materials and communication tools including a website, project updates, flyers, display materials, media releases and case studies;
  • industry and stakeholder liaison;
  • day-to-day strategic advice and issues management; and
  • coordinating a full-day industry summit, including developing the agenda, recruiting and managing speakers, marketing, delegate management, designing facilitation and workshop processes, briefing facilitators, and venue management.
